Addicted to Sonic

A couple weeks ago we rented an Xbox game from blockbuster, Sonic Heros. We rented it mostly for John to play, but the girls have taken over. We had to renew it for another week because they enjoyed it so much. They have been very compliant about getting their chores done lately (they know that increases their chances of getting to play), so mom has really enjoyed the game too! Here’s some snap shots of them playing.

Can’t I play too?

Merry Christmas

We’ve been busy getting ready for Christmas. This week we’ve been making gingerbread houses, reading Christmas stories, and getting ready for our big trip to Michigan. That’s where we’ll be spending Christmas this year. The girls are so excited to see Grandpa and Grandma. It should be a great Christmas. We hope yours will be as well.

Thanksgiving In Wenatchee, WA

We spent Thanksgiving in Wenatchee, Washington this year at Laurel and Mark’s house. (Laurel is John’s sister.) It was a fun little trip. On the way we drove thru the mountains and stopped to let the kids play in the snow. It’s been awhile since they’ve done that and they had a great time.

Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful. Thanks Laurel! We had a wonderful time just hanging out and playing games. We visited Marks Dental office, and Emily got to experience his work first hand. She had two teeth pulled. She did awesome.

The last day we were in Wenatchee, it snowed. The girls went out and played in the snow just before we headed for home (in their pj’s since everything else was packed.) It was the perfect end to a great Thanksgiving holiday.

Lauren loved the snowman. She had a great time talking to it. She was a little teary when it got knocked down.

Sara’s Dance Recital

Image

Sara’s dance class ended today. They had a little recital and invited all of the family members in to watch. Sara had been talking about the recital all week. She has been so excited. Last night before she went to bed she told me to make sure to get her up early so she would have time to get pretty and eat a granola bar. You could tell that this was an important event for her. She kept checking to make sure everyone was coming. Sara did a great job.

OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry)

Thursday night we took a trip to OMSI courtesy of Intel. They helped sponsor the new Star Wars exhibit, so we were able to get in to see it before it was open to the public. The girls weren’t too interested in the Star Wars stuff, but John and I enjoyed it. It was pretty cool to see the actual costumes, porps and models used to make all six of the movies. The girls liked the rest of the museum, especially the science playground.

It’s been awhile

Okay, I know it’s been awhile since my last post. I’m going to try and get caught up on what’s been happening around here, so here it goes.

First we had Halloween. I’ve decided that making Halloween costumes isn’t as fun as it used to be. Both Cailyn and Emily picked patterns that were really involved and they took a lot more time than I thought they would. Next year, I think I might just buy costumes. The girls had a lot of fun. The Friday before Halloween, they went to a trunk-or-treat at the church. Then on Halloween Cailyn and Emily went to a party at a friend’s house. Sara and John met up with them when it was time to go trick-or-treating. They were very excited to be able to go with a bunch of their friends from school.  Lauren loved Halloween. She figured out quick that when she knocked on the door someone would come and give her candy. It was quite a cold night, but it didn’t seem to phase her. She just wanted to get to the next door to get her candy. Lauren hasn’t learned too many words yet, but she has “nandy” down pat.

Cailyn and Emily have been enrolled in a tennis camp. They are learning the basics on how to play tennis. It’s indoors, which has been nice since we’ve had quite a bit of rain around here. (Not too shocking. It is the rainy season.) Cailyn and Emily have really enjoyed the class, and I think it might be something they’ll stick with.

Lauren is learning to feed herself with a spoon and fork. She’s doing pretty well, but sometimes it just isn’t fast enough for her. Sometimes it’s just easier to use your hands. Of course then you end up looking like this.

Short but sweet

We had some visitors this weekend. Grandpa and Grandma Conrad and GG (Great-grandma Ohngren) came to visit for Giancarlo’s baby blessing. They weren’t able to stay long, but we had a great time nonetheless. Grandpa had his birthday while they were here, so of course we had to celebrate. The girls like nothing better than to plan a birthday party.
